PosiTest LPD

The DeFelsko PosiTest LPD is a low-voltage pinhole detector used to locate holidays, pinholes, and discontinuities in thin, non-conductive coatings on metal and concrete. Ideal for inspecting tanks, pipes, and protective coatings.
Made in the USA and available from Miqias (Iraq) with calibration certificate, training, and technical support.

Description

The PosiTest LPD from DeFelsko is a professional low-voltage wet sponge tester used for detecting pinholes and coating discontinuities in thin protective coatings.
It is widely used in industries that require coating integrity verification, especially when coating thickness is too low for high-voltage testing.

How It Works

The instrument passes a moistened sponge over the coated surface. When the sponge encounters a defect, the electrical circuit completes and the device alerts the operator with an audible and visual signal.

Key Features

  • Detects pinholes, holidays, and coating defects in thin-film coatings.

  • Suitable for coatings up to 500 µm (20 mils) thick.

  • Audible, visual, and vibration alarms upon defect detection.

  • Lightweight, rugged design for field use.

  • Multiple sponge, wand, and roller configurations available.

  • Powered by AA batteries for long field operation.

  • Easy to use — no special training required.

  • Complies with ASTM D5162 (Method A) and NACE SP0188 standards.

  • Supplied with a calibration certificate traceable to NIST.

Typical Applications

  • Coating inspection of tanks, pipes, and steel structures.

  • Detecting defects in lining systems, epoxy coatings, and thin protective films.

  • QA/QC work in oil & gas, marine, petrochemical, and industrial maintenance.

  • Concrete coating inspection where low-voltage testing is required.
